Luís André Ferreira
Luís André Ferreira studied cello in the class of the professor Luis Sá Pessoa in the Music School of the National Conservatory of Lisbon. He finished “cum laude” and was awarded the “ Augusto Serras” prize of the Rotary Club Foundation as the most promising music student of the National Conservatory. He participated in the “IV Festival Culturel Européen 2003” in Rouen, France.
In 2002 Luis André Ferreira played the Haydn cello concerto in C Major with the Madeira Classical Orchestra with conductor of R. Massena in Funchal.
He also played as a soloist with the Summer Orchestra of the Music Conservatories of Portugal in 2001. He performs regularly as a soloist with the Orchestra of the National Conservatory of Lisbon.
He worked in master classes with the professors Karine Georgian Zavier Gagnepain, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Vladimir Perlin, Marcio Carneiro, Godfried Hoogeveen and Walter Despalj.
He regularly gives solo and chamber music recitals in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Portugal, Spain and Belarus (White Russia), together with the pianist Vital Stahievitch.
Since Sepetember 2007 he became the 1st cellist of the recently born Portugese Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Pedro Carneiro.
He performed a solo concert with Portuguese Chamber Orchestra in the festival “Dias da Música em Belém 2008” in Centro “Cultural de Belém”.
Luís was a Bachelor and Master student in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class of Monique Bartels.
For his dedication he was granted a scholarship of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation from 2004 until 2008.
Luís André Ferreira is a member of Lacerda String Quartet since May 2008 and during 2009 he will perform all over Portugal and record part of the J. Haydn´s repertoire for string quartet ordered by the Portuguese National Radio Antena2.
